Thank you for your words, Mr. John Keating. My relentless, sincere, unmitigated gratitude goes out to you.
Yes; the quote above comes from the film Dead Poets Society. And before you say to yourself, "Well, this blog post holds no value for me because I haven't even seen that movie," or "I didn't even enjoy it when I did see it," hold it right there. Sure, this post find its roots amidst this literarily dreamy yet tragic tale, but the main focus rests upon the quote itself. Oh, and before I forget, I also must state that this is not targeted at men in particular. We'll adapt it a bit. I believe everyone needs a lesson in wooing. A lesson in words. Words. That's what it's talking about.
Words, words, words. I am whole-heartedly in love with them. And it may sound crazy and it may sound far-fetched and it may sound like I am a confused human being who needs to get out more, but I assure you that this is not the case. Well. At least not entirely. I am addicted to words. To beautiful words. To quaint words. To thought-provoking words. To avant garde words. To unconventional words. To caged words that so desperately need to be unleashed. Indeed, I love words. How else can I say it? Even words cannot detail my love for words.
But you know what's devastating? So many words are dying out. So many words are becoming endangered. We, as members of this present and demanding and twisted generation, want everything in this world to be uncomplicated and effortless and now. It's almost as though this unfailing need to make every last thing totally straightforward and accessible within one click of a button has splattered over into our quickly dwindling vocabulary. We want to say things hastily. We want to bipass any potential discussion, or - God forbid - potential stares. We have no ability to dwell. We have no capacity to ponder. And to use one of the most profound statements this generation has managed to conjure up, "It sucks."
Yet, my hope is that it will begin to suck a little less. For words to once again enthrall and captivate and transcend and enrapture and tempt and engage and indulge and weather and endure. For words to prevail.
Real, spellbinding words.

Beautiful, amazing, PERFECT post! I am a strong believer in the power of words :)
